Abstract | |
Noire studied several properties of weak continuity in Proc। Amer. Math. Soc. 46(1), 120-124. In this paper it is shown that similar to most of the results of the above paper still hold for closure and strong continuity. Example 2 is a counterexample to a corollary to Theorem 6 of Long and Herrington. Theorem 12 of our paper is a sharper result to Theorem 5 of Noire. Several decomposition theorems of closure and strong continuity are obtained. http://www.najah.edu/index.php?page=2149&l=en&extra=%26id%3D546

Abstract | |
A differential pulse cathodic stripping voltammetric (DP-CSV) method for determination of emodin in Britton- Robinson buffer (pH2) at a hanging mercury drop electrode (HMIDE) is described। The method is based on measuring the reductive peak height at —0.25V vs. Ag/AgCl reference electrode. The linear relationship between the peak current and emodin concentration allowed the voltarnmetric determination of emodin over a wide concentration range 1.0 X 10-2 —2.5 X10-6 M, with a relative standard deviation of 3.3% (10 determinations at 1 X 10-2 M). Adsorption of emodin at HMDE enabled a detection limit of 2X10-1°M after 3 min accumulation at 0.0V. The applicability of the suggested method was found to be suitable for the determination of emodin in roots, stems and leaves of Rumex cyprius plant. http://www.najah.edu/index.php?page=2149&l=en&extra=%26id%3D545

Abstract |
Mathematics and computer science are closely linked with each other, and in many respects, the functions of computer related elements might be interpreted using mathematical approaches। In this paper the strong correlation that exist between computer software and hardware elements (logic devices, digital circuits and logical processing) and discrete mathematics (propositions and quantified assertions) will be demonstrated. This will pave the way for a better understanding of the operations of basic computer circuits and lay the foundation for developing new computer related algorithms. http://www.najah.edu/index.php?page=2149&l=en&extra=%26id%3D220 |

Abstract | |
This paper presents simple cost models that contain small number of items that will be used for estimating costs of contracts। Twenty-eight contracts that contain large number of items were used in this study, for the development of these models. Cost significant philosophy was used as an approach to develop the models. This study has shown that about 80% of the total cost of a project are contained within 20% of the items. These items are called cost significant items. Each item has a value greater or equal to the mean item value. These models can be used only for multi-story residential buildings. The developed construction cost model contains about 25% of the items while the developed finishing cost model contains about 23% of the items. The expected accuracy for both cost models is within + 5% and the achieved accuracy is within + 7%. http://www.najah.edu/index.php?page=2149&l=en&extra=%26id%3D221

Abstract | |
Some naturally occurring plasmids like ColEl and ColK have been found to harbor site-specific recombination sequences, the core regions of such sequences have shown 82% homology when so aligned। The high degree of homology was the basis for testing the possibility of recombination between them. The sequences were cloned in the vector pUC18 in opposite orientation and introduced into E.coli cells and the analysis of the DNA harvested from the transformed cells showed that the sequences had undergone recombination, such recombination, such recombination was of the site-specific mode. No sequence deletion was detected, as was the case with such sequences when they were in the same orientation, Interestingly the event of recombination in this case resulted in the inversion of the region located between the recombination sites of the two cloned fragments. http://www.najah.edu/index.php?page=2149&l=en&extra=%26id%3D217

Abstract | |
Four highly conjugated laser-sensitive two-photon chromophores (9a; 9b; 9c; 9d) have been synthesized। Each chromophore has been attached to the anti-cancer drug, doxorubcin, to produce the labeled doxorubicins (12a; 12b; 12c; 12d) for imaging the biologic cellular processes. http://www.najah.edu/index.php?page=2149&l=en&extra=%26id%3D215

Abstract | |
Three groups of patients who had diabetes mellitus for 10 years were enrolled in the study and compared with the control group। Electrophysiological study on seven peripheral nerves were carried out once in the control subjects and four times in the diabetic patients; the first examination was conducted prior to drug supplement and the subsequent reexaminations conducted at the end of 6; 12 and 18 months following the drugs treatments, ascorbic acid (AA) and Thiamine (B1). The results indicate that improvements in latency, velocity and amplitude of the nerves evoked responses were significantly better with the use of AA compared to thiamine use in the patients. The results also show that the improvements were significantly greater in insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM) compared to that of non insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) patients with the presence of AA in both groups.Nevertheless the results indicate that with better glycemic control, the tested nerves show variable degrees of functional improvements detected by the three examined parameters at the end of the 6 and 12 months. At the end of the last visit (18 months after the first visit) more improvements were observed in the three parameters of IDDM patients. Key words: Ascorbic acid, Thiamine, Insulin, effectiveness, Diabetic Neuropathy. http://www.najah.edu/index.php?page=2149&l=en&extra=%26id%3D234
