Abstract

The objective of this study is to measure the level of disclosure in the published financial reports of Jordanian Mergers Company. An index of this criteria was summarized in the form of items which ought to be disclosed. A survey of thirty-two published Jordanian consolidated reports were undertaken. Then the sample reports were analysed to measure the level of disclosure as compared with the items in the index. The study shows the following: 1. The agreement of the respondents regarding the importance of applying the IAS No. 30. 2. There are some difficulties that retard the implementation of the IAS No. 30 in Jordan such as the inefficient of training employees and updating of accounting basis so as to suit Jordanian environment. The researcher suggests the following: 1. The necessity to adjust some items of the IAS No. 30 to suit local laws and legislation. 2. The necessity to use new developed systems to reflect international development. 3. The need to do more research and studies about the application of the international accounting standards in Jordanian companies.
